1340Smoking at Public Functions on School Premises

The Meriden Board of Education prohibits smoking, including smoking using an electronic nicotine delivery system (e.g. e-cigarettes) within any indoor facility owned, leased or contracted for, and utilized, by the Board, for the provision of routine or regular kindergarten, elementary, or secondary education or library services to children.  For purposes of this policy, the term “electronic nicotine delivery system” shall mean an electronic device that may be used to simulate smoking in the delivery of nicotine or other substance to a person inhaling from the device and includes, but is not limited to, an electronic cigarette, electronic cigar, electronic cigarillo, electronic pipe or electronic hookah and any related device and any cartridge or other component of such device.
