Class Rank 6146.1-E

CLASS RANK

All students are ranked at the end of their junior year and again after the end of the third marking period of their senior year.  Beginning the 2026-2027 school year, to be ranked in the top ten, a student must have been enrolled at Platt and/or Maloney High Schools for a minimum of seven marking periods and is required to carry a minimum of six (6) credited classes per semester. Students entering high school as seniors will retain the rank they held in their previous school for college and/or scholarship applications.  The class rank will be calculated as follows:

Procedure:

  1. Only students who carry six (6) credited classes per semester will be counted in the class rank.

  2. Only courses taken in high school years will be counted.

  3. If a student transfers from a state-accredited school, courses taken will be assigned Meriden’s point value and used in calculating the grade average.

  4. Grade point weights will be multiplied by credit value to determine a point value.  The total point value will be divided by the total credits to determine the grade average.

  5. For top ten recognition and selection of the valedictorian and salutatorian, students must have completed their junior and senior years at the school.
