CLASS RANK
All students are ranked at the end of their junior year and again after the end of the third marking period of their senior year. Beginning the 2026-2027 school year, to be ranked in the top ten, a student must have been enrolled at Platt and/or Maloney High Schools for a minimum of seven marking periods and is required to carry a minimum of six (6) credited classes per semester. Students entering high school as seniors will retain the rank they held in their previous school for college and/or scholarship applications. The class rank will be calculated as follows:
Procedure:
-
Only students who carry six (6) credited classes per semester will be counted in the class rank.
-
Only courses taken in high school years will be counted.
-
If a student transfers from a state-accredited school, courses taken will be assigned Meriden’s point value and used in calculating the grade average.
-
Grade point weights will be multiplied by credit value to determine a point value. The total point value will be divided by the total credits to determine the grade average.
-
For top ten recognition and selection of the valedictorian and salutatorian, students must have completed their junior and senior years at the school.
